Aux. cooling fan relay (Red)
Does anyone know of a reason that the Aux fan cooling relay (the red one) has to be electrically isolated from the chassis. There are two white plastic isolators that separate it from Earth. The metal mounting bracket is not (as far as I can determine) connected to any of the relay terminals. Seem a bit of an overkill? Mine are busted. But, I must admit they look purposeful! Ian
Those little plastic stand-offs don't do anything electrically. Why they're there in the first place, I really can't say.....but then again I haven't really thought about it or studied the layout in any way

to me it is just a mounting bracket with spacer to allow the wires connector under the red relay to have some space to engage, if not to isolate the connector and wires from contacting the metal radiator support.
Thank you all. It turns out that Jag used a circular Relay that dictated the use of a stand-off munt bracket. I replaced the relay with a generic cube style (as per Doug's instructions), and it now bolts directly to the rad. cross member. I kinda liked the red relay - a lot of people would ask "what's that for - it looks important". Well, at least the relay connector is still red. Ian
