Beneath Steering Wheel
Under dash near fuse board there are two dials, one on right and one on left of fuse board cavity. the mechanical one at right is for the journey counter and resets the k/ms traveled reader in the speedometer dial.
the other I think is the dash board light luminescence, it has three cables going in, one red with blue stripe that carries 12v volt and two blue with white stripes one of which is a double cable terminating in a single spade head.
the dial spade connects are 2x U U shaped brackets. any one know how i should reconnect these three wires to the essentially 4 plug options in correct order?

I forget.
I did work it out on the Daimler back in 1993, but there has been a lot of stuff happening since then, and since I dont drink anymore I cannot blame that now, but maybe then??
I do remember that the wiring diagram was NO help, so I reckon I just did it by trial and error, as much of my Jaguar work was back then.
MEMORY, so errors may be many???
The Red/? was live with the lights on, and then I simply tried the combinations until the dash lights did what I wanted.
Only person I could ask back then was ME, and that conversation was a real hoot, and that simply led to more JD being consumed.

Aden,
That is indeed the dash light dimmer rheostat. I was just into mine and drew a picture, because I never understood traditional wiring diagrams.
The Red/white wire goes to the top forward (as seen from the floor) spade of the switch. This is Power In.
Red/blue goes to the spade just below, nearest the floor. This is the Opticell which is never dimmed.
The double Red/white can go to either of the aft spades as they're connected. Power to these runs through the rheostat and goes to the dash and clock lights.
All wires Must go in these positions for the dash lights to dim correctly and the Opticell to remain at full bright.

Yup, she sure does have the way of making things simple
rather than complicating them. IF ONLY THAT TRAIT WERE MORE PREVALENT.
Yesterday was a grey, cloudy, coldish and a bit dreary day with rain
possible. On my errand, I used the Jaguar heater. It performed perfectly. Including the optic fiber illuminated knobs.... !!!!
