Well, if it's just a matter of getting and fitting a new wing, maybe go for the totalled car, (check first how quick you can get a wing and costs of fitting), but I'm not sure about the price as I'm in England. The other car may be equally as good if maintained and serviced well, you don't say what the price is.
However main thing to say is that you've posted all this in the wrong forum ! You'd get better advice from owners of the model you are buying, which looks to be the X300 model, (6 cylinder engine) so try posting in that forum.
Regardless of the car be sure and check with your state DMV before you buy a salvage title car. In Ohio you have to have full documentation of the repairs including detailed receipts. I ask them "what if i do the work myself" they said nope, need receipts for the work. I understand some states are easier to get a salvage title converted to a normal title so you can get liscence plates.
Never buy a salvage car unless its less than 50% the cost of a similar car and you can do major repairs yourself and intend to keep it until the end. It was salvage for a reason. The insurance company didn't write a fat check for no reason. Usually the main reason is the cost of a proper repair is more than the value of the car. Ususally the owner will bring it to be repaired out of his own pocket at a cut rate and there is no telling if the repairs were done right. A car with a salvage title will always be worth less. I'm not saying dont buy a salaved title car, it can be a good deal but the price must be heavily in your favor becasue if and when you go to sell it on the next buyer may not be as willing as you are to buy a salvaged car.
For example, One day I hope to own an Audi R8 and take and it to the track. Track cars are always worth less and since there is no way I can responsibly afford and R8, a salvage one might be a good option for me. Even more so that I have the knowledge and ability to effect major structural repairs. Also R8's are rare, XJ6's are not.
