Default BW 66 question

Found a torque converter, through a distributor, had to use wifes employer to purchase it though, Everything on web site says its a fit, bit guy at counter says i need to make sure before i take it... i have my old flywheel so i can make sure bolt align , what i cannot do however is count number of splines, anyone got a bw66 laying around out of a car that they can count them for me???? web site says converter has 29 splines..

Jaquar Torque Converters - Precision of New Hampton

Thanks in advance,

Darren

Oh yeah, and reason i cannot simply take old one to match up it that until i finish a woodworking project, i cannot get car up in air in garage, converter will be here in 3 days, old one wont be out until next weekend

I read the spline count as 26 in the link you provided.

My advice to removing/installing Torque Converters is to stand the gearbox on it's tail and thread some bolts to grip while lifting STRAIGHT UP.

Drop the new one in the same way while turning and slightly lifting/dropping GENTLY until all the splines and oil pump driving ears engage.

I have an old empty gear oil can that I can lower a trans into tail first and keep it upright.

I haven't messed with a BW65/66 in 20 years but I used to change them out alot when the Series II/III cars were plentiful.

Darren

I have just counted the splines on my transmission and can confirm 26 is correct.
