Question Compatible Parts with SII XJ6

Hi guys! I found a 1987 SIII XJ6 VDP at a local scrap yard with a flawless interior. I'm curious as to what parts I can use from that on my 1975 SII XJ6L for the interior. I'm particularly interested in the seats and door panels. Thanks for you help!

Default do it.

The series 3 driver side will have lower seat mounting points because the Series 3 has a height adjuster added on to the seat. You can remove it and simply bolt the series 3 seats in to your series 2 with outthe height adjuster. If you want the adjuster prepare to do some cutting and welding as I did.

Front door panels will fit. As far as I know Series 3 are all long wheel base so you should be good to go on the rear door panels. Bring a rule to make sure.

Series 3 Seat belts are much better and they will bolt in. Sometimes my series 2 belts failed to restrain, Series 3 always work. This is a must do AFAIC. Get the belts and buckles as matched set

Rear package shelf will work too.

The rear seats will work.
The headliner and pillar trims are different in shape and mounting technique and will not work.

Center console is different and could be retrofitted with a few minor wiring changes. Its worth the effort because the series 3 window switches are much better. You will also need to get the matching package shelf from the dash. It will all bolt in to the series 2

I highly recommend this upgrade!

I recently acquired a Series 2 Xj6 with all these upgrades and several external ones, and it's nothing short of Awesome!

While you're at it you might trade up tail lights and any other shiny bits that strike your fancy, boot latch for example. It's not an Exact fit but with a little fiddling you can doubtless make it work. Series 3 sill plates screw right on.

Take a look at my garage and see for yourself.

Default silly me

Sill plates...good one!

Also grab the plastic truck latch bottom finisher. Its plastic and doesnt dent up like the series 2. Front kick panels too perhaps.

When I tried...I recall the boot latch was too different and I ended up swapping the entire boot lid.

The previous owner put some extra gasket material under the boot latch so it fits a little better than it might otherwise.

As I mentioned, it's not an EXACT fit because the S3 trailing edge has a larger curve than the S2 (space for the electric lock solenoid - if you want that you do need the whole lid), and it'll get you dinged at a concourse. But from 50 feet at 50 miles per hour it looks pretty good!
