Correcting crooked mirrors
The PO installed the tapered black plastic gasket incorrectly causing both mirrors to tilt downward slightly. I have tolerated a slightly askew world for a year now so I thought I would fix something that was simple to do as I needed a break from the complicated climate control fix. Boy was I wrong. I couldn't remove the screws as the PO had already removed the mirrors and broke the welded on bolt on the underside of the door. I had to carefully saw of the screw and nut. Now I had to adapt a drywall fastener which served to snug up the mirror assembly quite well. So my simple fix took 2 hours, a trip to the hardware store and a little salty language. I forgot to mention the 15 minutes it to me to figure out how to reattach the mirror glass as it had popped off its 3 mounting points. Now I just have to do the passenger side.

But little by little we get closer to perfection Everytime I touch the car, I find something that needs to be improved, corrected, fixed then road tested. And every time I do so, I find a discarded screw or some over item which hasn't been reinstalled or has simply been dropped and forgotten. Just this weekend, I found a 17mm ring spanner behind the boot/trunk lining...
