Default Delanair HVAC Replacement

Hello! I have a Jaguar XJ6 that has had a Chevy 454 dropped in it. The interior has been completely stripped with the heater box, wiring and controls completely removed. I'm looking to get heat and AC back in the car. I am not sure if it would be better to install an aftermarket solution like the Vintage Air Gen VI or swap in an intake system from a donor vehicle that I have. I like the idea of having a new system in the car but it's not cheap so if it wouldn't be a monumental undertaking to swap in the donor hvac I would consider it. I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions that anyone may have.

No experience. But, a new unit is likely to be more effective and reliable.

I agree. As much as I hate to shell out for the new system I think its most likely the way to go.

Since the system has already been removed I'd go ahead and splurge on a new system.

HI,
The last time I looked at a XJ A/C-heater system was back in 1989, so forgive me if my memory is a bit off. But as I remember the XJ system had 2 blower assemblies, LH and RH blower. If you draw all the fresh air in through just one XJ air intakes (cowl) there is the possibility of drawing large amounts of water in if your caught in the rain.
The Vintage Air heat exchangers should be more efficient than the Delanair's heat exchanger. Also you'll have new controls/electronics.

I have S1, 383/200R...have all GM stuff under the hood, GM heater/AC fans and Vintage air heater servo...heater works very well. Jag inside the car AC stuff not up to the cooling job in hot So Cal weather...can get 40 F at side vents and 40 degree cooling differential from outside...but 60+ degrees inside on hot days is not pleasant...my next project is the removal of all Jag AC stuff and replacement with Vintage Air...
