Difference between Executive and Standard model

Difference between Executive and Standard model
Hi Folks,
I am going next week to have a look at a 1974 XJ6 Executive that is up for sale. It sounds like the vehicle has not been driven much in the last 10 years so there are some issues I will need to look out for and will take my car mechanic pal with me to help. I have done a fair bit of research on the II series but have been unable to find out what the difference is between the Standard XJ6 and the Executive version. Can anyone enlighten me and is there anything in particular that I should be looking out for? Many, many thanks. Chas

Hmmm. Not sure.
I wasn't aware of a Series I-II-III 'Executive' model but for a few years South Africa had it's own Jaguar assembly plant so there well could have been some country-specific model designations.
In later years, when the 'Executive' designation was more mainstream, so to speak, it was the designation for the lower-level models.
Cheers

Thank you very much DD.
In my internet search for local XJ6's I have come across a few with an Executive plate to the right of the number plate, as in the attached picture. I have also noticed a few (not sure if they were the same ones, will check) with the VIN starting with the letters "SA". I reckon your assumption that they may have been assembled in Cape Town is spot on. I have also noticed that the only XJ6's with a leaping cat on the bonnet are these Executive designated vehicles. When I go next week to look at my (potentially) first Jaguar I will take note of the VIN and see if can find out where it was assembled.
Thank you DD for your interest and your time.
