Default does an "o" ring go here?

i installed the expansion valve THEN realized i may have neglected inserting an o ring on the inside wall of the valve that is connected to the firewall. i think i need to disassemble and insert an o ring. am i correct?

It's been a few years. Foggy memory. But I'm 99% sure you need an o-ring there. I'm hard-pressed to remember any a/c connection on any car that doesn't use an o-ring.

Maybe there are a few that are simply taper-seat fittings?

Others will chime in

Cheers

The series I XJ6 used taper and compression fittings but later cars all use the 'O'rings in the A/C system.

I use a 1 1/16" 'crow-foot' wrench/socket and a LONG brace to support the fitting.
If the 'nut' does not move, I have a LOOOONG air chisel to break it loose with a notch on a flat.
The smaller fitting can also be removed with less force (and 'crow-foot') so it usually survives.

I have NOT damaged an EVAP core in 40 years.
I have had to replace them when they were 'twisted-off' by overly anxious mechanics. (DASH OUT)

Go slow and use penetrating oil.

Hello, If you didn't take a O ring out maybe it is still on the pipe, If you haven't all ready, look in with a inspection mirror and a flashlight. to confirm this. Use small bent pick to withdraw. use old one to size new one.

Thank you.
