Angry Electrical problem with the cabin fan and temp. sensor

I have a problem getting the cabin fans to work. I think it might be a possible fault at the temp.sensor which actually control the fans. Due to this the climate control does not work i.e. the heat is always connected and the aircon does not switch on.

Anyone experienced a similar problem? Is it possible to obtain the electrical diagram for this circuit?

What kind of car, exactly?

Best to post in the tech forum that pertains to the specific model Jaguar you have

Welcome to the forums Singapore.Jag,

there are two Fans or Blowers in your 1984 XJ,
one for Driver side, one for front Passenger side.

They are activated by a large black Relay located behind the Driver's side floor Vent upholstery panel. If you remove the black plastic Vent, then pull the upholstery panel towards the rear, the Relay will be the first part you see.

This large black relay has 4 small relays inside, one for each Speed. The fans have 4 speeds.

There are many wires connected to this large Relay. The important wire is a Brown wire connected with a screw at the center. It is the Power wire.

Inspect the wires connected to the relay to make sure no wires are disconnected, especially the Brown wire.
