Default Engine intermittently stalling fixed!

SO, made a substantial breakthrough regarding unpredictable engine stalling due to an electrical connection somewhere. I initially thought it was the fuse holder on the driver's side. So, I cleaned all the fuse tabs and cleaned the fuse ends. Seemed to fix things. That was yesterday. I went out to start her this morning, fired up and a few seconds later it stalled as the instrument panel went dead. I tapped the plastic cover under the dash and the instrument panel lit back up. Got it to be repeatable, push up on the plastic cover dash was energized, stop lifting on the cover, the dash would go dead. SO, I finally tracked it to a bad connection in the ignition switch itself. So, removed the ignition switch and discovered some corrosion on the main brown power wire rivet connector, so I cleaned the rivet and wire crimp on the main wire and soldered them together. Super fixed!!!
More explanation, When I was pushing up on the plastic cover, it was touching the ignition switch wiring and putting some pressure on the brown wire causing it to make a better connection. removing pressure, the brown wire connector would relax and lose continuity.

Yipppee!!!

I learned, the hard way, as usual, that the ignition switch in my car caused a lot of issues. a NOS unit via David Boger fixed so much !!!

I sure hope he and his are OK. Florence right at their place. Probably super busy. roofs are his day time job!!!

Default Speaking of David Bodger.....

...has anyone heard from him lately?
I understood his headquarters were in an area now under hurricane water and storm surge for some days.
I do hope he and his found safety and high ground.

Yeah, I hope David is OK. He's a good guy.

As for ignition switches......

They've been a known bugaboo for some time but I think we've been seeing increasingly more failures. I think all of them must be on their last legs by now.

Cheers
DD
