Currently trying to find evidence of manufacture date so that I don't have to wait until next year to get historic vehicle tax exemption, can I get this from the vin number? Has anybody had experience with this? Any advice would be much appreciated.

If you contact the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust (JDHT) and supply the various numbers from the car they will issue a heritage certificate with the original build details of your car.
I believe they currently charge £60 plus VAT and delivery.
Thanks so much xjrayuk and Doug

Regulations vary across World markets. For the USA, the month and year Manufactured Date appears on the manufacturer sticker. For Australia, the actual date must be on a plate attached to the vehicle. However, for European Market which includes UK, there is no requirement to display the date and JLR consequently don't. As suggested, JDHT is the best solution.
Advice on DVLA is:
If your vehicle was built before 1 January 1984, you can stop paying vehicle tax from 1 April 2024.
If you do not know when your vehicle was built, but it was registered before 8 January 1984, you do not need to pay vehicle tax from 1 April 2024.
The only vehicle I've had which qualifed was my 1964 Aston Martin DB5. However, DVLA reclassified it as Disabled (also zero rated) and absolutely refused to change this to Historic!
I just go with bureaucracy rather than waste my time fighting it.
