Default First time I couldn't get it started.

New to forum. Plan on getting my Jag back on the road.

Jag XJ6, Series III, ’86, six cylinder.
Has been in garage for 10 years. Has been run about a year ago. Didn’t run particularly well.
Now - won’t start.
Drained fuel tanks and replaced with new fuel.
Will run on ether – has spark; timing good
Plugs replaced; remain dry.
Has fuel pressure at manifold.
Checked one injector – has 2.5 ohms resistance
Cold start injector shows voltage during starting cycle plus resistance; but does not work with pressure during starting cycle. Looks plugged up with carbon.
I feel all the injectors are plugged up. I think the next step is to change all of the injectors. Anyone with a better idea???

How much fuel pressure do you have? You need 36 psi regulated pressure.

Are the injectors clicking when you crank the engine?

Cheers

Default Deafening Silence

There seems to be a fair amount of pressure although I haven't measured it. There's no clicking.

The only thing that bothers me is the prospect that all of the injectors failed (clogged up) at once.

If you suspect injectors and have to get them cleaned, this is certainly a DIY project to remove and re-install. I did this myself last summer and it was a nice little project. If you need help on that, I could offer some suggestions on where to send them....

Do you have a volt meter or 12v test light?

If so, check for voltage at the injectors. With key on, engine off, you should have 12 volts at both wires of the injectors....or on one wire if you're checking with the injector unplugged.

Post back !

I would be interested in talking to you. I'm planning to replace all of the injectors although I haven't completed all of the suggested test.
