Fuel Delivery Problem??? MAYBE....HELP PLEASE
I have a 1982 XJ6 and yesterday I was driving down the road went to press on my brakes and they were hard to press so I looked at my gauges and realize the car is completely off. So I pull over and try cranking my car over and over with no luck. I know I have a full tank of gas, but I cant seem to figure out what happened. The car trys to start but just turns and turns. Im thinking it may be the fuel pump relay or something like that. Does anyone know where the relay for the fuel pump is located? OR what else it might be, I have not checked to see if the pump is working but it seems that it would not just completely stop delivering fuel out of no where. Anyways any help would be greatly appreciated.

Put the shift lever to "D" and turn the key to "start". You should hear the fuel pump run. If it doesn't, post back.
Of course, even if the fuel pump runs it might not produce enough pressure. But, first, try this......

Fuel Problem
I did that and all the other things. Im guessing my pump is bad because when I do it it just clicks. I sprayed starter fluid in the engine and it started just fine. So I pulled the line off of the fuel pump and tried cranking the car and nothing came out and I am 100% sure it is getting 12 volts....But when I took the pump off and hooked 12 volts up to it it worked fine but there was nothing running through it like gas or anything. So there is no gas running through the pump at all. But it is just weird that the pump works when its not hooked up to the gas line.

also, if you took the pump off, rather then doing that, leave is where it is, detach the inlet hose from it (pinch it off higher up the line first) and stick it in a jerry can of fuel, this should tell you if the pump has enough power where it is to pump liquid..... ie: blockgage further up..

no reason to get a genuine pump either, I got a holly blue pump with pressure regulator for $300AU and that's overkill, you could run a Holley red quite happily, I think they are about 1/2 the price.
But test the pump on some liquid first, could be a blockage - tanks are old, rust and crap could be lodged in the line somewhere preventing fuel getting even that far.

jerry can - collequal aussie term for a fuel can, get like a 5L can of fuel, and take the line that goes from the *** end of the fuel pump (or buy a length of fuel hose and connect it to the inlet end), put other end of hose in can of fuel, and effectively, it SHOULD start if the blockage is further up, if it does start, you will have the un-enviable task of trying to locate the blockage and clean it up... (could empty the tanks and blow air up the lines to attempt to clear).

fuel problem
Well when I pulled the line off from the tank to the fuel pump it was shooting gas out so I dont think there is a block there. It just doesnt come out from the top of the pump, cause the pump just clicks when its hooked up to a hose. And when I was driving the car just shut off, almost like it is electrical...its weird. No enigne sputter like when the car runs out of gas...just turned right off, like if i was in neutral and tunred the key to off. So it is weird that the pump works when not hooked up to the car but clicks when it is. Does it have something to do with the ground wire maybe? Cause I think it is a positive ground. I know the relay for the pump is good, what else could it possibly be?

The pump is neg ground....make sure the ground is good, of course.
Take the fuel pump relay off the socket and apply 12 volts to the white/green wire(s). This puts voltage right to the pump, bypassing the control circuit. If the pump now runs, you have a control circuit problem. If it doesn't run, you have a problem with the white/green wire to the pump.
