I am having an all of a sudden no-start situation on my 86 SIII and have followed Dougs checklist. All good but awaiting noid light to check injector pulses.
Fuel came pouring into my High Life bottle when testing fuel circuit but ordered a fuel pressure guage anyway. Came with 25 strange fittings but as pix shows I think the simple hose connected to CS nipple will work
But here's the question... What is the thin clear tube that comes off the gauge push button? I blew into both ends of clear and black tube and while pressing button air came out... So seems if I leave that clear tube as is, gas will come streaming out!?!?
If anyone understands this style gauge, appreciate some education. Of course box came with ZERO instructions!
I think I figured it out.. my coffee is kicking in.
To use gauge I just connect black tube and after getting reading, the button and clear tube will drain off gas to reduce pressure so I can reconnect the CS hose
I would add that you want to use the tee fitting ( number 12 in the diagram I think ) allowing fuel to go into the rail then back to the tanks thru the pressure regulator. Otherwise the pump will build to it's max pressure possibly springing a leak somewhere.
Just reread your last post, your plan is to connect the gauge to the cold start injector hose ? That will work fine, I've just found getting that hose off to be a bigger pain than disconnecting the main fuel hose ( I actually have a inline fuel filter spliced in the hose right before the rail making it easy to add the gauge for testing ).
Be careful and have a assistant watching for leaks if possible !
