Fuel tank valve diverter issues
I have a 87 xj-6. After the car warms up, it sputters on take offs. Badly it falls on it's face. I've found that if I click the fuel tank switch in and out fast many times the problem goes away untill the next take off.... Then it's a repeat.
Additionally regardless of the switch side it uses fuel from both tanks.
The car sat a long time before I bought it at auction. I'm wondering if I am barking up the right tree. Could there be junk in the valve? I cannot locate this valve.
Can anyone help me with this??.. And where the heck is the oil filter?!

You may also want to run some injector cleaner through your system. If you bought your car at auction, there's no telling how long it had been sitting, and it doesn't take long for fuel to go bad. As for the fuel switch (and where it's at), you may want to go get a Haynes manual for your car. I have a 76 XJ-12, and all my fuel lines ran (I changed em) in the trunk right in front of the bumper, and that's where the fuel tank switch was.
