Guess What??!! She won!!
I got an email this morning from the chief organizer of the Show & Shine notifying me that my car has won First Place in the Jaguar Class.
I must have been misinformed about the minimum number required for a class.
I told my husband it would have been better if I had actually earned it and hadn't got it by default since there were only 2 cars.
He said, "Don't feel bad. It's de fault of de udder guys that didn't come.

Thank you, everybody!
I am kind of buzzed about this, never having done Anything like it before.
But now that she's taken First, in her very first show, there's no need to ever do this again, is there! I mean, What could be better? I know she's not Best In Show quality, and I'm not that competitive anyway. One of the club members followed the circuit for 17 years, and after all that he has a Huge bin of receipts and a room full of trophies.
I want to spend more time driving my car and watching people on the freeway pull sllloooowwwwlllyyyy past in their ratty old Twin Cam, taking a Good Looong, look, watching the road so little they might crash; and finally, upon going by, keep looking in the mirror until they round a curve. THAT is fun.
Or hearing passers by on foot, one tell the other, "THAT'S a Jaguar!"
Or watching those furtive glances at the gas station, ignoring the cash count going into their tanks, watching how I manage to get the nozzle out without spilling a single drop on the finish.
In short, More Driving, Less Sitting.

No Trophy for Fireball
I heard this sweet sound coming up my street this morning. You gotta love the sound of a V12 being driven enthusiastically.
So I had my own 2 Jaguar show out front. I don't think mine was the winner though.
It is regular feature,it belongs the son in law of the lady across the road.

When I got a little older and saw my first Xj6, probably SIII, I also asked what car that was. When they said it was a Jaguar I didn't believe them. I knew what Jaguars looked like, they were bulbous and ugly. This car was Pretty, it couldn't also be a Jaguar, I thought, not understanding different models of a brand.
Right up until my husband bought Nix, I never gave any thought that I would own one.
However, this is a Very nice specimen, obviously well cared for.

Yup, you been there done that. On from there!!! Won first place in every show you entered!!!
Way back when, a guy on another forum thought I should enter a "proper" Jaguar Concours and shock them "good". Tempting, but, no, I've gotten mellower with the passing of time.
Mine could look good if I did a good detail on it, vacumn, wash, wax and polish. But the scar from the hand brake failure is still there. The door works just fine, courtesy of son's intuitive knowledge of how to move metal. Bu, it is imperfect as to alignment. and smoothness along it's leading edge. A narrow strip of brown primer
helps, but isn't a real fix. I'm tempted to smack the bow with a board and then sands and spot patch the paint. but, will I make it worse...
I think charging the AC this summer will take precedent.
Enjoy them, that is why we have 'em, however we do it.
Driving a decent looking 30 year old car is something.
And to think that BAAQMD wanted me to junk my very serviceable 20 year old Jeep Grand Cherokee and pay me a "mere" grand!!! No mention of the 30 year old Jag???
Carl

My car is closer to 40 years old! And the AC is still working Just Fine which pleases me Very much.
Yes, I promised my husband I'd drive that car, and since he bought it for me, well, now I'm obligated to drive it! Darn! It's a hard job but I think I'm up to it!
I like that thought, "Won first place in every show I entered." LOL
