Hello from Kansas
How's it going y'all? I've been on this forum a few times and read some helpful and insightful posts and its seems like a great community to be a part of so I figured why not join! I was lucky enough to stumble upon a 1984 XJ6 series III on Facebook marketplace around July. I haven't had a running car in about 6 years, anyways I was happy to see she only had 67k miles on her and the car cranks but doesn't run. Being a college graduate I'm still pretty broke haha so I've been trying to take on this little project on my own. This is my 1st post so I wont get too deep but as far as I can tell I have an Ignition Coil wiring problem (from the previous owner I'd assume, broken and free wires). And possibly a fuel system problem...since I've had the car I replaced the fuel pump and bought two new fuel pump relays. Anyways I'm looking forward to gettin this beauty patched up and back on the road...I look forward to talking with yall and sharing/receiving info and pictures of these beauties on the road. Cheers
Hi Aaron -
The How-To in the stickies that are pinned at the top of this forum have a ton of info, but this site is really helpful.
XJ FAQ
I found it hard to locate from the Jag-lovers - the most visited Jaguar enthusiast site on the Planet! main site, but I found it once and bookmarked it. There are step by step sections on the fuel system and debugging and also for general non-start conditions. My 86 SIII was a non starter when I got it July and first verified the ignition system. Then I started checking the fuel system and my main issue was a seized fuel pump. I replaced it, filters, lines, etc and then she fired right up. I got lucky... hope you solve your mystery.
Good luck !!

PS - I am 57, been working for 35+ years.. and I am still broke - ha ha... so don't feel too bad

Welcome to the fun field
Start with ignition. Get the S57 Jaguar wire schematic, Best I've ever seen. educational as well as a guide.. .
Wy from ignition switch to coil +. Must be ion place in that manner,
Inertia switch at the passenger "B" pillar. Must not be tripped or there will be no fuel injected.
Does it crank " If not, the Rw wire from the relay to the starter solenoid.
Carl.
