Hey XJ.

1. Your horns are located behind the front bumper.

2. The problem could be your horn button itself, the horns, a short in the electric lines, etc.

3. See #2.

DD - Thanks for the link to the horn troubleshooting. It was very helpful. Again the Multimeter is proving a very valuable diagnostic tool.

Looks like the horns are getting power when the button is pressed and since they do nothing with supplied directly from the battery it looks like time for new horns.

FYI - The 130 db freeway blaster horns at Advance Auto Parts seem to be the same part I'm finding on the Napa website. Picking up a set @ lunch.

Unusual for both horns to fail, even one, as they are used so little, (unless maybe you are from the Mediterranean countries !!). You could also make sure the ground (UK=earth) connection is OK.

Rain tonight so I didn't get them installed. I checked the wiring with my multimeter. Both were receiving 12v when the horn button was pressed. The ground was touching the bolt the ground wire was connected to. I'm with you on both failing, but both were dead when connected directly to the battery.

I disagree with the rarity of both horns failing. I've seen it a few times. The location under the bumper leaves them totally exposed to the elements.

An ambitious person (not me) would move them to some place with a little weather protection

Cheers

We have horn! The 130 db horns from AutoZone did just fine.

Remove the horn pad (two screws from behind) to adjust the metal contact plate.

As for the sound, well, your low-note horn is probably dead. Universal fit horns from any auto parts store are easy to install and work fine...$12-$15 each or so
