Where in the process are you stuck, exactly?
The fan is bolted to the fan clutch, which is mounted to the water pump on four studs. It's really just like an old style USA V8 fan arrangement...except getting the nuts of the studs requires a bit more dexterity

You may want to take the whole assembly off the front of the water pump. 1 1/4 wrench (20 at Autozone) and whack it with a rubber mallet a few times. Mine came right off. Put a little pressure on the belt to hold tension if it sticks. Then remove fan on the bench.
Engine swap time, then. As an '87, is your car an XJ6 Series 3 (al curvy), or the later XJ6 (XJ40 model with squared-off style body from 1986 here in the UK) ?
I can't see it being economical to rebuild the seized engine, better to find another one which you can at least turn over, even if it needs some work. If it was me, I would at least take the head off the replacement engine, and probably the sump for inspection.
