HELP "which distributor?"
can somebody please advise me as to which distributor my xj6 has. the car is a 1985 xj6 3.4 6 cylinder auto.
now i realise that this car should by all accounts have an electronic ignition system from new.......but it does not.
i am attempting to purchase an electronic ignition kit for it to solve intermittent starting/ running issues and i need to know has it a 22D6 or 25D6 distributor to order the kit.
any ideas out there folks. i am really in need of help here.
cheers jj.

One alternative is to get a complete Lucas/Jaguar CEI system from a 4.2, which is a perfectly good system.
You'll need a used distributor and amplifier from a donor car....which should be easy to find and not expensive. A new coil (I recommend the Lucas DLB170 for the 4.2) would be a very smart idea as would be replacing the control module inside the amplifier (AC Delco D1906).
Crane and Petronix (sp?) are known good aftermarket choices.
Cheers
