I'm normally a quiet, easygoing sort. But am writhing & muttering in unhappy envy at your beautiful 'S'! Congratulations! One of the pinnacles of Jag ownership.
A real beauty, Jose. Everything about it is right: colour, wheels, period-correct tires, condition. Just beautiful.
it is completely original Gregory, no rust, no accidents. Nada. A Black Plate California car. matching numbers. Purchased new in 1965 by a famous artist painter named Eugenia Baker, (1886-1982). Her paintings and murals are at the San Francisco and Monterey museums. It was resprayed in 1984 by her husband and that is still the paint it has in perfect condition. The car is really fun to drive like your MK-2. the difference from the MK-2 is that it has the independent rear suspension lIke the XJ, so the ride is softer. The engine is a 3.8 liter 9:1 compression. Accelerates quicker than the XJ but not the MK-2.
I drove it from San Francisco to Nashville doing 90 to 100 mph until I was waved "slow down" by an Indian Nation cop in a Mustang 5.0 in New Mexico.

Coventrywood,
it is not entirely original. if you look closely I added XJ-6 electric mirrors and switch, XJ-6 headrests, and XJ-6 top center stop lamp. For safety. It is a 21st Century Driver.
some people throw sarcasms at me: "Why don't you just get a XJ-6 if you like the XJ-6 parts?" i answer: "I already have one".
I love the simple everything in these old Jags. No digital anything. No ECU. No computer. Even the analog XJ-6 is a p.i.t.a. to repair. Not the S type. it is easily repaired. And I can get most any part needed for it. What is not available, I can get from a 1965 Ford Galaxy. Even the power steering is from a 1960's Ford.
Thanks all for your comments, I was not trying to hijack this thread. One thing leads to another.
As mentioned earlier in the thread, I love the look of the Vanden Plas Coachlines that were on the Series III (US).
Several years ago, I purchased an original set of Jaguar OEM Vanden Plas Coachlines from Jaguar Classic Parts.
I've since applied these to my modern S-Type and I think it came out fine. The Vanden Plas Coachlines are a two-tone Gold/Copper and did the best I could to apply per factory spec intent which is that the Coachlines should be the same length as the bodyline swage and should wrap around the doors.
