Good morning, the horn sometimes works sometimes not, I disassembled the link that goes from the button to the inside of the steering column and I saw that it is no longer welded at the bottom.
Which is the best solution? Do I have to pull off the whole steering column?
The thin rod was partly inside the hollow one and the other end welded to the bottom inside the steering column. On the outside there are two connections, one I think is the ground and one has a purple and black cable, the thin rod should be connected with the purple and black cable.
Is something like this the copper tab? if so the rod connected to the second one of these.
The problem is get to the soldering point cause it's inside the column, and I would like to avoid dismantlig everything.
yes exactly. You might not even need to solder it back, just close or tighten the ring where the rod enters the copper tab so that it goes back in very tight. You might be able to do this with L shaped needlenose pliers.
In my '84, I can see two cutouts or "windows" in the outer column where I can see the inner column. One of the copper tabs contacts the inner column. I believe the first copper tab on the way down to the firewall is where the rod fits into.
yes, the first copper tab contacts che column, but the other near the firewall contacts on a ring like this in the pic so I cant get inside the column and I cant see how the ring were connected to the thin rod.
My records show the thin rod (which is called a spear) fits into one of the rings in the copper tab and when the threaded horn shaft is installed the spear enters the plastic portion of the threaded shaft. No Pics.
I have been trying to upload pics for some time now to no avail.
I find and open the pic I want to upload, it goes to 100%. I then click on upload and nothing happens. This has been going on since the new format was introduced.
I have asked for help on this but NO RESPONSE!!!!!
@Jose: Felicidades. Yes, I have photo Editor. Most of the pics are the same size that I used to upload with the previous version of the forum. I will do as you recommend.
Happy Holidays.
