Scoping a possible future project - does anyone have any knowledge or experience of the standalone HTG-GCU Gearbox Control Unit when used with a ZF 8HP45 gearbox. https://htg-tuning.com/gcu/

I am looking at options to update the old Borg Warner 12 auto behind the Jaguar V12 (pre HE fuel injected) and if the 8HP can be controlled it should be a good fit for the V12.

A bit left field I know, but someone might have used this product.

The obvious choice is the GM T700 which is OK but I would like something newer. The other option is to change to a manual with either a Tremec 5 Speed or a T56 Magnum 6 Speed.

As I said just thinking and only asking for information from members familiar with the HTG GCU and the 8HP box.

No I had not - interesting and it indicates the installer and others did not know about the HTG controller that works with the 8HP gearbox which is much better than the 6HP.

While that thread expresses concern about the mechanical side of fitting the 8HP the reality is that bell housings etc are not a big issue for a decent machine shop using modern technology.
