Default Manual conversion

so iv got a xjr6 in my landrover, bolted to a zf4hp24 gearbox, (so its already got the zf adapter plate and bits)

but im looking at a manual conversion, but the getrag 290 gearbox seems really hard to find and when you do, they are really expensive and require a rebuild,

Is there any other gearbox that bolts onto these something more modern maybe a 6 speed?

I haven't heard of anyone using anything else since the 290 used to be plentiful enough, but now it seems the market has dried up completely.

I was thinking the new Tremec TKX might be a good option - there are bellhousings available for it that fit the 6L V12, so it should work with the the AJ16S as well since it shares the 4l80e with the V12.
you would need a custom propshaft made though.

NV3500 was the licensed built version of the Getreg 290 in the US

Bolt patterns may have been tailored for the engine matching in the US market

an old quote i found when googling the 3500
Getrag 290 is the transmission variant you're after - and you need only the Jaguar one. By then, it had an integral bellhousing and none of the other variants will fit. The BMW variant is a different bellhousing pattern and the engine is installed on an angle. The others (GM/NV, etc) are all for pick-up trucks and the shifter comes out the top of the box - you cannot move it.

There was a resent manual conversion done in the US for a AJ16 supercharged that covers the details.

There was a supercharged X300 outside London on E - bay that the owner was parting out that may have the Getreg 290 in it

I'm not sure if it was offered by Jaguar as a factory built manual transmission version for the British Market

I can't retrieve sent private message history sent to Andy on this forum from my side.

He would have the received message on his history and may run across this tread and maybe pic up on it

I sent the E - bay offering to him as he has 2 supercharged examples as a potential part resource if he has some things in the works

His ID is " XJREngineer "

I've often thought these cars would really rock with a manual, although the ergonomics are a bit funky in the factory shifter spot.

This is a normally aspirated 4.0 liter with Andy's bracket for ignition 5 degree advance
