Default I gotta ask, what are they?

So, I don't have an owners manual for my 87 XJ6. SO, I gotta ask,
1) Why are there no window switches on any of he doors? Seems to me that passengers would want to lower their windows.

2) What the heck sre thos "flippers" on all the doors? Are they how you lock the doors?

what the heck?

1) Presumably Jaguar decided it was better/easier/cheaper to keep all the switches in the console. The front passenger simply uses the same switches as the driver. Rear seat passengers have their own switches at the rear of the console.

2) Yes

cool feature on those "flippers" the two front doors will not lock while the door is open, you must lock them from inside or use your key... it has saved me from locking myself out or my keys in the car many times... I am absent minded that way. Thank you jaguar for caring =)

Default Thanks guys!

But how are they suppose to work? Push forward to lock/unlock, or pull backwards, pull at the same time as the door handle...they feel "springy"

to lock the door push the "flipper" forward away from the handle, to unlock pull it back towards the handle. the two front door locks are supposed to feel springy, that's what keeps them from locking you out. they will not feel springy if you operate them with the door closed from the inside, or from the outside with your key.
