Default Illumination panel mysteriously stopped working

Hello everyone, I'm Thierry from Paris.
I hope someone can help me.

My Series III from 85 has relatively low amount of electrical gremlins.
Unfortunately from out of nowhere the whole panel illumination stopped working (position 2 on the lights switch)
The rest function has expected: cigar lighter, warning light panel. Puddle lights and interior lights.

I tried Investigate and bypassed the whole rheostat by connecting the 3 wires (Without success)

I have the S57 wiring diagram bible but I can't put the finger on the problem.
And I suck at electricity.
I their a technique to diagnose the problem without disassembling the whole dashboard.
I own, multimeters, car tester and many basic tool.
I'm just too stupid to use them efficiently..

Best regards from Paris

Check #8 fuse. Is the fuse blown? Are the metal end caps corroded?

Cheers

Hello dear Doug.
my palm is not large enough to facepalm
i checked absolutely everything, or so i thought
you made a bullseye;
despite changing the fuse and sanding the fuse contact it wasn't enough
there was green oxyde inside the rounded fuse contact a small dowel and emery cloth put life back into my panel.
all my gauges are led and the opticell bulb was switched for the Jaguar opticell light upgrade unit frombettercarlighting 2 years ago
i was afraid to have melted a wire.
thank again.

ThierryXav,
Do you have the details for the Opticell replacement? ie. weblink, partnumber you ordered, etc. I've checked the website and cannot locate it, and would like to upgrade, as I'm sure more owners would like to do. Aloso, what instrument bulbe replacements use? I would like to put together a "kit". Thanks, Ian

Hello dear, you'll have to talk to Gil directly.
You can't directly order from the website.
(edit) you can but you have to communicate with Gil before paying

I just dug out my conversation with Gil.
And he sent me many comprehensive quote for the full car, the interior and the gauges and opticell ( I choose the opticell and some small LED Bulb. Got the rest from Amazon and Aliexpress if I recall correctly.

Shoot him a email,

Opticell listin

If my memory is right, once you order. Gil reach you through the email you used to order.
So you can discuss and check if the item is compatible depending the early/late iteration of your car.

He's a pleasant man to talk to and knows a lot about many jags
