Default Installing DRLs on my s2

I have a series 2 that I've been wanting to enjoy at night as well as in the daytime. Unfortunately the lights that these cars came with are abysmal for someone like me with poor night vision. I decided to upgrade to LED lights. These lights come equipped with DRL. I would like to utilize this feature. Was thinking maybe running the 12v off of the ignition relay and grounding them to the body. Any better ideas?

Not sure about better, just different. Id put a relay in and fuse it separately so no significant extra load goes on the ignition circuit. On an S3 you can also get ignition power at the horn relay which is forward near the lights , dont know about the S2.

I installed LED headlights on my 85 XJ6. these also came with DRLs.
I wired my DRLs using an additional microswitch with an extended tab at the gear selector inside the car and a separate relay so it only turns on when DRIVE is selected.
I will locate pics of the wiring on my old PC(Windows 7) and post them.
It is very doable.

I found that a fresh set of halogen original type sealed beams did wonders for my 83!!!! My eyes ain't what they used to be. lens implants in each eye !!!Very light sensitive.

Far better lighting than the plastic candles in my Jeep !!!
