Intermittent vibration from door interior SOLVED
Hello everybody, I have had a very annoying vibration from one of my rear doors for many years and never found the cause until today. I had some free time a few days ago and set about tracing this problem. I removed the door panel and by tapping lightly on the outside door skin, I found that the noise was coming from the window guide channel and the door locking solonoid mounting bracket. The two steel components were very closely mounted and sometimes they were coming into contact when the car was travelling over slightly uneven road surfaces. I removed the solonoid and the bracket and noticed a small abrasion mark where the window channel crosses. All that was needed to cure the fault was to file away a small section of the bracket. I have taken some pictures to show the areas and the bracket after filing down. I hope that this tip will also be useful to fellow members with series 3 vibration in doors!
Kind regards from England, Danny.
