For the transmission use "Type F" or "Type FA"

For the 4.2 engine most owners use 20/50 but if you are in sub-freezing conditions you might want 10/40

In either case any well known brand is adequate.

I think we'll need more details on the scratching noise to be of any help.

Cheers

Exclamation u are maby right :-)

Hey doug The F type is for a Ford transmission is that right, whit kind of automatic gear box do I have on my car. I was looking on the internet and there were talking about Dexron 1-2 or 3 is it a dexron on my ore is the F type standing for Ford Gm gearbox? Can you find a product on the net that matches my gear box just to be assured that the one I have found in Denmark is the same one.
About the “sound” I had a really bad joint at the bottom rear side of my gear box (automatic gearbox) and in the start the sound came immediately when the car is forced to pull but if you just gave it half throttle the sound stopped. Now when I stuffed in a new joint the sound disappeared until the car was heated up and the sound came again
So I went back to the workshop and cheeked the state of the gearbox fluids and came to the conclusion that there wasn’t any oil on the gear box (the car was turned on and was on the prescribed 750 Rpm.)
But the fonny thing is after I have chaned the joint the sound does not come until the car is worm, but when is could I can give it full throttle and still the sound isn’t there. Just until it gets worm J

You have a Borg Warner 66 transmission.

Orginally "TYPE G" fluid was recommended. That designation is obsolete, at least here in the USA. The "F" or "FA" is the recommended replacement.

You can use Dexron if you like....no direct harm will occur. However, Dexron has different friction qualities which make it less "sticky" than "F" or "FA" so the increased slippage in the gearbox will result in increased wear.

I'll do some more thinking about the noise while you add some fluid to the transmission.

One more thing I forgot to add the text about the sound is that if I give it normal throttle and turn the vehicle left while driving the sound appears louder but if you turn the vehicle right while driving when the sound comes, it goes away until I drive steady forward

cheers
