Default Jiggle Pin

I am working through my rough idle list slowly..... today was replace the thermostat and gasket.... the stat that came out looked pretty mangled. It also had a jiggle pin. I bought a Stant replacement. The Stant does NOT have a jiggle pin. There is no mention in the workshop manual about making sure the jiggle pin is situated at 12 o'clock as there is for the V12, which leads me to think there shouldn't be a jiggle pin for the XJ6?

Yes, should have a jiggle pin....or a least a hole.

Drill a 1/8" hole and you'll be OK

Cheers

yeah the thermostat I ordered had the pin and I believe it was a stant. weird that yours was missing one, maybe it was a factory defect, or they simply gave you the wrong thermostat.

I've followed Dougs suggestion and refitted the stat after drilling a hole.

I've just finished re-running all the vacuum lines (See my other post in a few minutes)

Tomorrow is (hopefully) re-fill coolant. Not find any leaks. Start. See what happens with the temp. Go for a run and try the deceleration trick and see if I get 99 on the trip......
