Default Looking for a 1984 XJ6 Steering rack

I am currently looking at purchasing a 1984 xj6 LHD in Canada. I've noticed it has a power steering leak and am assuming it is the rack. Where would be a good place to purchase a new or refurbished rack in Canada or the US? So far my internet searches haven't revealed much. Is there a replacement from other model years that can be used?

I purchased a rebuilt rack from a shop in Atlanta whose name I have forgotten since it was back around 1997.

I will look at my records to find the paperwork, my rack is still leak-free, my XJ-6 is also a 1984.

Parts Geek shows a couple. I recommend the Maval brand

Might have been Coventry West....which recently closed its doors. Their rebuild department supplied lord-knows-how-many steering racks over the years.

If the leak is coming from the top of the tower, that seal is not a big deal to replace. You have to remove the complete steering rack to replace it. But once on the bench no problem.

I have a rebuilt one in Niagara area Ontario.

Are you in the Ottawa area?

to be sure of getting the corect part, look at the driver's side door jamb for a white sticker, it has the Build Date of your 1984 XJ, usually built in 1983 with 1983 or even 1982 parts. This is why some vendors ask for the V.I.N. of the car.

Example: my 1984 Model/Year was built in June 1983 to be sold as a 1984 model, but not sold until September 1984, after the 1985 Model/Year was already being offered. Some parts I have replaced were dated "3-1983". The Build Date is on that sticker.

Identical to my 1965 S type, built in 1964 and many Lucas parts dated "1963". I never throw away replaced parts unless they are exchanged as a core.

I started using Lucas PS steering fluid with leak stop and it works. I figured, the damage is already done. It couldnt hurt. I dont like using these kind of products but this time I did before getting into replacing another rack. I recently replaced the one on my XJS.

It wasn't, unless they had another name and I have not had a chance to dig the invoice due to the hurricane.
