My Jag 87 XJ6 no start
I had the head gasket changed, drove my Jag 24 miles, it ran great, until it died. we replaced the dist. pick-up, spark plugs, fuel switch over valve and MAF, it will start now eventually but dies right away, it will not start again until it sits a while. Does anyone have any clues to what may be wrong ?

The 'could be' list is long.
First, on general principle.....
At the rear of the water rail there's a bundle of ground wires. Did they *all* get securely reattached after replacing the head gasket?
Next....
'Starts but dies right away' suggests that the fuel pump isn't staying running. Check connections at the relays on the firewall. If they look OK, hot wire the pump circuit so the pump runs constantly and see if anything changes. We can help if you don't know how to bypass the pump circuit.
Is the ducting from the air flow meter to the throttle body tight and intact?
Is the connector at the fuel injection coolant temp sensor undamaged and corrosion free?
Is there any evidence of gross over-fueling? Wet plugs, black smoke?
Post back !
Cheers

Bones,
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! I'm sorry you're having trouble with your Series III XJ6.
I have moved your thread from the forum for the XJ40 to the forum for the XJ6 Series I, II & III cars. As Doug has mentioned, this is the correct forum for topics concerning your model.
Cheers,
Don
