Default Need help trouble shooting no start on 1989 xj6

I have an 1989 xj6 that cranks but will not run. It has spark
at spark plugs and fuel injectors are spraining fuel. Has 160 psi
Cranking comp. put cyl #1 on tdc. and rotor was at 1 plug.
Took valve cover off and cams seam to be right. I even sprayed
ether at it and had no reaction.

If your car is an '89, it will be an XJ40 model designation, (yes, confusing ain't it !!). You'll be better off posting in the XJ40 forum. This forum is for XJ saloons 1968-86 for the sixes, and up to 1992 for the V12s

hi is this an xk engine or aj6? if you take the plugs back out after cranking are they wet or dry? you may be losing spark under compression.

Xj6 engine is a 3.6. A little wet. I've Droped the exhaust to see if the converter was
plugged and tried a crank sensor, and coil.

hi fraser is right you have an xj40 although often badged xj6. you have the aj6 engine. if all plugs are coming out wet then either spark is weak or seriously overfuelling which can be temp sensor or air mass meter lying etc. make sure all plugs are sparking during several turns of engine.if so it is overfuelling. you can try very light throttle when cranking to provide more air but not too much as that confuses engine management. i seem to remember vcm will display error codes so may be worth a try
