I have a 1988 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas and need outside door handles. Does anyone know if I can use door handles from a 1992 Jaguar on my car? If, not could someone tell me what year of door handles are compatible to my car besides 1988.

 

Mmmm, this is an "early" XJ40, no?.

The early handles are unique to that small year range, as far as I know.

The change came in about 1990 somewhere, and I think?? it was a lock AND handle change.

My only experience was teh daughters late 87 that had handle issues waaaaay back, and new handles for that year model was the only option, and then remove ALL the locks from the car, clean all the gunk from them, lubed with powdered graphite,and no more issues.
