I threw in a Pioneer stereo powering four 4inch infinity door panel speakers and on the back pannel, I cut out two holes to fit in 2 infinity 6x9's. Everything was professionally done, so everything looks nice and clean. And to finish showing off, sitting in the trunk are 2 10inch Pioneer Premier subwoofers powered by a 1000 rockford fosgate amp.

This car is a beauty. Hopefully I can add some pictures in my profile. Anybody else with an XJ6? I'd like to ask some questions to some car owners regarding maintenance experiance. Lately my car has been sputtering and sounding like its about to die out on me. So when I am at a red light, I have to put in on neutral and hit the gas for a while so it wont die out one me. Also, I know this car is heavy and requires a lot of GAS to move it. But latey ive been noticing that its been eating up alot of GAS!!!!! I alreay ordered a tune-up kit and filter kit from northeastbritishparts.com. So hopefully these modifications will help.
Any other suggestions?

Thanx.

1984 was a very good year for Jaguar Cars in terms of quality, so I am surprised your car is coughing. Mine has been very reliable since I bought it in 1989.

Based on other's reported problems, I would suspect the AFM (Air Flow Meter).
Classic symptom of a car that has been sitting for a long time.
It should clear up. Maybe a long drive will help.

Another cause could be the CTS (Coolant Temp Sensor) gone bad. Replace it, inexpensive.
Check price at SNG Barratt USA store.

I agree with Coolant Temp sensor change and cleaning the AFM with AFM cleaner and a clean cloth. I would also check fuel pressure with gauge or change the fuel filter. But the biggest intermittent issues I had were solved with a very comprehensive cleaning off of all ground wires. That made a huge difference and will save you countless hours in aggravation.
