Hi, sorry my questions...,but I would like my Xj of. February 1979
Foase as original as possible.
I saw that the fanaleria is all branded Lucas,
But the 2 large headlights are branded Bosch...
Browsing the internet it seemed to me that other Xj of that time had this peculiarity...
Would you tell me if it’s original
Or should I find two big Lucas headlights?
Other question
Which fendinebbia and which brand to put to maintain the originality of the epoch??
Thank you very much.
Bosch???
From the Feb 79 build date I am assuming you have a Series II car. Knowing what market your car was originally sold to might be helpful as well.
Most commonly I think Jaguar used Lucas but several different headlight configurations were used depending on market. I wouldn't be surprised if Bosch (or Hella, or Cibie) were used in some cases. What you have might be original and correct.
Thank you for your answer.
My jaguar xj12 is of 26 February 1979
Admitted in Germany..
I don’t know if it’ll help.
The headlights next to the bosch are Lucas
See photo.
Thank you
cosa devo controllare???
Un'altra cosa...
Il cambio automatico no...
Poi purtroppo , rimase immobile.
Aspetto un tuo consiglio grazie
I suspect that the lamps ave been changed at least once over that car's life.
My car is a USA market series 3. I swapped in for new amps. Much better than the old guys. I made no note of the brand. My car ain't original, by far.
Jaguar had many sources fr it's parts.
In my opinion, items like amps are not a mark f riginality. just normal maintnance.
As in batteries, or brake pads. or hoses r fan belts.
I have so many more questions for you,
I’d like to learn quickly.
For example
The car has been idle for a long time.
Before trying to start it, the engine oil was changed...
It has left ..... no uncertainty...a miracle, but perhaps the candles have not been well cleaned.
It does not take turns and tends to make explosions from discharges as soon as it accelerates
Temperature after a long time at a minimum remained in the 90 degrees...
But then it turned off ( maybe a little petrol less than 20 liters total).
What should I check???
Another thing...
The automatic transmission does not...
Even moving the selector forward or reverse the machine does not give any wince or signal...
I checked the level and it is ok, among other things the color of the oil has no impurity or smell of burning..
This car has been much loved until the end of 2014...therefore estate in good shape..
Then, unfortunately, she stood still.
Waiting for your advice thank you
