Default Newbie Needs Help

My 1990 XJ 6 Sovereign was totaled a few weeks ago, and I am looking to replace it with a Jaguar of some kind. I had owned it for about a month. I am looking at a 1995 XJ6/84K miles that seems to be in very nice shape. You hear both horrible and great reviews of this model and year. Looking for some feedback. I would want to replace the sound sytem module w/something that has at the very least single CD capabilities w/out butchering up the condole. Any suggestions? Second option is a 1999 XJ8 Vanden Plas, 114K miles. Physically nice, but a/c blows warm and ABS and service lights on. How much of a can of worms can this turn out to be? Thanks in advance for your input.

You've heard horrible reviews of a '95? Really?

Well, anyhow, go to the "X300" section and spend a few minutes browsing. There are several recent or fairly recent threads on buying a used X300. Good info there.

A 1999 VDP V8 would be great so long as it has the updated timing chain parts, water pump, etc. The a/c and other problems could be minor or could be a nightmare...impossible to say at this point.

Others will have to comment on the radio stuff.

Cheers
DD
