my new ac compressor came with 3 oz of pag 46. i couldn't find what the total system capacity is in the service manual so i can determine how much to add. does anyone know? i thought i read 7 oz?

 

i found a posting from jag-lovers that referenced 10oz. i thought i read a post from this forum that spoke to 7oz? just trying to get it proper.

 

6 ounces for the Harrison compressor.

 

i guess i am asking what is the total system capacity for ac oil for a 1987 jag xj6? i have a 4 seasons 58096 compressor that came preloaded with 3 oz.

 

The question you are asking is hard to answer. How do you know how much oil is still left in the system? You can leave the new compressor out of the equation by blanking of the ports to it and evacuate the system by itself. But some residual oil will remain. Replacing the condenser / receiver dryer bottle will eliminate a lot of any residual oil. At this point if your new compressor has 3 ounces, Add 5 to 7 ounces and You should be safe from overfilling.
