Default Pinstripe

I'm getting ready to have my 1987 BRG Series III repainted the original color. I had an absolutely stunning paint job on my XK8 changing the color to a Sable and done in Tijuana at a shop that does Bentley's, Rollers and big BMWs. Price was a small fraction of the cost here in San Diego so the XJ6 is going down for some lipstick also. Only issue is they've warned me they cannot put on the gold factory pinstripe. Does anyone know offhand if these can be found anywhere? I've done a bit of on-line searching but came up empty. I could I suspect have a hand pinstripe done but would like to find the original tape with the end terminal details, etc. Suggestions?

Going to TJ is a huge plus of living in SD. Need to get my passport so I can do so. What shop did you go to?

I suspect the supply of factory originals dried up many years ago.

Shouldn't be hard to duplicate with aftermarket pinstriping tape or, as you say, hand-painted stripes.

Default Gold Coachlines

Padrino,

Most Jaguar enthusiasts don't realize that Jaguar OEM factory original coach-line tape (otherwise known as pinstripes) can be purchased from the Jaguar Classic Parts website. (Genuine Jaguar Parts and Jaguar Accessories for Classic Jaguars from Jaguar Classic Parts UK)

When I owned a gold S-Type last year, I purchased Series III authentic double coach-line tape (Gold/Copper) and applied it without any issues. You need to purchase various coach-line sections in order to complete the entire car. The left hand front//right hand rear fenders and the right hand front//left hand rear fenders have the tip that comes to the rounded bullet shaped end.

Attached is the site location where I found one the Gold coach-lines you are looking for with the bullet rounded tip. The part number is BEC10624FDL and costs 8.50 english pounds. If the site does not have the other coach-lines to complete the kit, than you could always purchase this one that is available and then send to a company like Trim-Brite in Wichita Kansas where they can then duplicate. Ask to talk to Buffy at TrimBrite - I have had her make double-coach-lines for my Jaguars in the past with the rounded bullet shaped tip. They were brown in color and she should remember me.

Double Coachline - Parts For XJ6 (2.9, 3.2, 3.6, 4.0) from (V)500001 to (V)667828 | Jaguar Classic Parts UK

By the way, authentic Jaguar models from the factory, such as Series III // XJ40 // and XJS came with coach-line tape and never had their coach-lines painted on. So, if your going for authenticity, you'll want to stick with the tape and not paint.

If you really want to go for the gold, you could use 24K gold leaf.

Wow BrownRobbin that is super!!! So glad other XJ6 owners like you are out there.

Now regarding real "gold leaf", wouldn't that be a great finishing touch!

Any well equipped sign shop will be able to duplicate the original both in shape and colour. I have had many sets made up for my own use by my local sign shop. Also beats the heck out of Jaguar prices.
