Pinstripes

Pinstripes
Hey all,
I have a '93 XJS coupe that I'm interested in getting re-pinstriped. It appears that the pinstripes running the length of the car were buffed off or something along those lines over the years. I'm curious as to whether the pinstripes were standard on these cars or if it was an option? I'm also curious as to the color of pinstripes based on the color code of the car? (FYI - my car is Flamenco Red)
Thanks for your help!

I think pinstripes were standard issue beginning sometime in the 80s.
On all the Jags I've seen the pinstripes roughly matched the interior trim. If you have a red interior the stripes are some shade of red. If you have a tan interior the stripes would be a light gold-ish color.
I'm quite sure there are exceptions but that's the general pattern I've noticed over the years.
Cheers

Three years ago I had to replace a rear door on my XJ40 (old dear reversed into it), all went well until we tried to source the original pin stripes.
No chance;
We had to look into an aftermarket 'custom' type body place and get something approaching the original and then re do the entire car.
No big deal, and looks OK.
Car Red, Interior Creamish, Double Stripes Gold.
It looked plain wrong when we had removed all the original stripes, before refitting the new ones.
Best of luck.

No I did not have the whole car repainted.
A heat gun carefully used to soften the adhesive, and gentle progressive peeling.
However, source the replacements, beforehand.
I also had the whole car clear coat redone before the new stripes went on, simply because the repaired side looked better than the rest. A few extra beer tokens to the body guy brought out a complete new lease of shine.

Jaguar Pinstripe
Recently while getting my XJ8 Serviced, I was passing time looking at the Dealerships used cars, and spotted pinstriping on a 2007 XJ8, which caught my eye. The 2 slim line pinstripes were broken about half way along the front fender, by a Small Leaper. Looked great, but I have not been able to locate one. I have a small defect in my pinstripe, and would have loved to replace with one of these. Never thought to take a picture, or ask myDealer Service advisor. Anyone seen these before. ???

JDHT does show pinstripes as a part, so I believe they were standard.
My 1996 green, with the coffee interior had both gold and red pinstriping.
What I notice is that some cars have their pin stripes lower on the body, so that it hits the door handles, or gets by just underneath them.
Mine are higher up, so that they only hit the side mirrors.
I didn't think I'd like the pinstriping, but there's something about them that made me miss them when I got my car repainted...I put them back on. Unfortunately the red seems to fad much quicker than the gold.
