Power Window Wiring help
hey,
I have a wiring diagram, but it only shows motors with three wires, the motors i have only have two wires, the wiring harness i pulled from a series 1. the motors came from elsewhere.
Can anyone tell me how to wire these up? I know i'll work it out with some trial and error but if someone knows the answer i would be ever grateful!
In the photo below, the motor has red and green wires.
The wiring harness has four wires.

Check the archives, member Elinor, aka LnrB did a great writeup with pictures
on the window switches and wire positions and colors. It might translate extrapolate to the motor wires. He car is a Series II and possibly similar if not exactly alike.
And, the Haynes manual is primarily a treatise on the earlier cars. Wire schematics are enclosed. To detailed for me. But, give them a look
And somewhere on the web or perhaps here in the archives is a color code traditionly
used in Brit cars.

Hello, Glenn,
Check out these threads for console switch wiring maps for Series II:
Window Switch Wiring Map:

Window relay, under the arm rest tray in my car, but originally mounted above the driver side fuse panel on the heater blower:

Central Locking, CORRECTED:

I can't help with the motor wires, I've never had occasion to worry about them; and I Hope I never do!

I'm still baffled.
am i stupid or does this wiring schematic show three wires for the series 1 power window motor?
slate blue
slate brown
black
all the photos of actual motors for series 1 i can find only show two wires.
what am i missing, im going crazy!
If the motor had three wires, i could wire it, an earth and a power for each direction (forward reverse), the available wires seem to allow for that.
