sounds like you have a Daimler DD6 ?? (Series 3 XJ-12)

the tool kit in the Series 3, 12 cylinder, is slightly larger than the one in the XJ-6 but the basic tools are the same.

I think the correct screwdriver is a black plastic handle with a reversible phillips-pozi drive and a flat head that snaps onto the handle.

the "correct" tire gauge was a chromed pocket-style gauge. It would have a "Made in England" marking on it.

my '65 S type toolkit has a black handle too. It does say "Jaguar" on it. The MK-X toolkit has a black screwdriver handle too. I have never seen a red screwdriver handle in these toolkits, but then I have never seen the inside of a XJ-12 toolkit either.

I think Nos. 6 or 7 refer to the size of the phillips / pozi drive size of the screwdriver.

The type of tire gage in Jaguar toolkits is shown in the third picture. The one pictured I found under the seat of my S type when I bought it, it is marked "Healey Coachworks".

A Dunlop tire gauge would be correct too.

Thank you again You are very kind to go to the trouble , the No 6 and No 7 i refered to was when I typed in on Google ( original jaguar tyre pressure gauge they came up as Dunlop and some had jaguar with wings imprinted and some had Dunlop with No6 and some with 7 so it is this as well I am not sure which to search for, but I feel with your help I will be set on the right course John.

you are welcome,
the Winged tire gages came with the 1950's and 1960s tool kits, not with the Series 3 XJ 6 or 12. By the time British Leyland took over Jaguar, economy decisions prevailed and many tools were sourced from various suppliers, so as time goes by, you have a salad of different tool brands in those toolkits.

Thanks for the info on the tool kits,my car is a 1986 daimler double six however the place the tool kit fits will only hold the brief case tool kit ,some here in Australia told me the larger tool kit is from a 1989 V12 could this be right, its VIN is SADDDRLX3CC459511, on looking at the vin decoding on jag Forum the chart shows the first C is for 1982 and my car should have a G for 1986 is it a mistake or ??? as my car is unleaded with the narrow necks in the tank fillers, also the L represents Vanden Plas but it has no badge ,can any one advise,Regards John.

LnrB,
we are all obsessed about making our cars as original as the day they left the dealership.

prettydaim:
if your car is a 12 cylinder, your toolkit is completely different than the 6-cylinder cars. The pictures I posted are for a 6-cylinder XJ-6, ignore those.

the 12 cylinder toolkit is larger and I am not familiar with the contents.
see picture below of a 12-cylinder toolkit.

Some of us are, Jose. I would settle for mine back on the road.
the 12 cylinder toolkit is larger[...]
Well of Course the toolkit is larger! There are twice as many cylinders!

LnrB:

Me too!!

I did two times around the block. Just a mild test run. Electrics fix/red not quite completed. Part Jaguar. Part GM!! Didn't even latch the bonnet all the way down.

Tools. One of the lost ones found on my cluttered bench. The other trapped in the Jaguar abyss or on the road, one block to search. Nope, not likely. No special thing, merely an HF sourced 1/4" drive 5/16th socket that fits the Nyloks on my un Jaguar relay rack.

I do have a few "original" Ford T wrenches around here somewhere???

Those Jaguar tool cases resemble the ones the guys used when they came around to service the office machines, when we had office machines!!! IBM Selectrics and the like...

Neat, though...

Thank you Jose, I have just purchased a tool kit which is as your photo shows for the V12. My car is 1986 Daimler Double Six, however I had just bought the other one just as you told me it was the wrong one but on looking closer at where it fits the impression in the carpet was of the brief case style you described for the XJ6 also the fittings and strap would not allow the larger kit to fit,so i have placed the brief case one in.I was talking here to a gent who had a 86 V12,he seems to think the larger tool kit was later on in the 1989 and also in xjs I am still confused. On another matter I went to VIN decoded on JF and checked my VIN SADDDRLX3CC, all good but R shows its Vanden plas and the first C show it as 1982 but it is a 1986,there is no Vanden Plas Badge ,on the rear is Daimler Double Six and the car is unleaded, first registered in 1986,engine no7P561665A.can you place any light on all this.As I am new to JF and not sure how to post properly I thought you may be able to tell me some of this and dont mind if you want to post it, the name Federal under the bonnet I was told means body builder ??? Regards John.

Damn, now I'm jealous. I thought My car was all original with everything in it. All I have is a bag with the jack and handle in it. Now I'm seeing an actual tool kit. Now I have to find out what I'm missing. These obsessions will drive a man mad.
