Problem solved - xj6 hot start issue
I had earlier posted a help request as my 86 XJ6 would not re-start, after a brief stop, after running fine for hours. It seemed that I would have to wait 2, 21/2 hours for an ignition component to cool down. After locating an excellent Jag centric repair shop, I was told that the problem was related to the ignition pick up unit. it was loose and needed to be "adjusted/ ohm'ed out". After that was addressed, I have had no problems at all: running fine, starts easily, purrs at idle and restarts with a hot engine just fine. Thought you would like to know.
Good to know.
The pick-up so seldom gives trouble that we tend to forget about it.
I had the pick-up fail on my V12 a few months ago. First time I've replaced one on any car, ever.
Cheers

The "Pick Up" is in the distributor... P/N AEU1500. I have 1984 XJ6 S3 (EFI) with hard starting after long drives. Leave the hood open after long drive and check starting after 30 minutes, could be vapor forming in the Fuel Rail from heat soak. Leaving the hood open on hot days works for me.
