Default a question about parts interchangeability.

How interchangeable are parts between the XJS and the XJ6/12? I stumbled upon a rather inexpensive XJS and am curious how much I could pilfer off of it or if I am barking up the wrong tree.

I think most everything electrical and mechanical is identical except the body panels and most exterior trim exclusive to the particular model, and also the interior/upholstery will be different in the XJ-S, other than the steering wheel and upper steering column and the stalk switches; But you need to confirm that the XJ-6/12 parts you need are the same in the XJ-S.

Well, my 83 XJ wuzza six is wearing a pristine set of 15 x 7 Lattice wheels from an XJS.

Those wheels shod in new rubber not only look good, but perform well.

Oh, and my car has an XJS shift tower. It's GM detents work better with the 4L60E trans in my car.

I follow the XJS forums as well, so much is common.
