Default Reconnecting Series 1 switch panel

I'm reconnecting all the wires to my switch panel. I did label the wires first, but just want to double check and make sure everything is connected right.. My question is : when looking at the wiring diagram, do they orient the pins on the diagram in the same way as the back of the switch?

just my personal opinion but if you labeled everything I would go with that instead of the diagram. Factory diagrams do have errors, for example: The wiring of the Neutral Safety switch in the diagram for the 1963-1968 S type is incorrect. The wiring for the Emergency-Hazard switch in the 1979-1987 XJ-6/12 diagram is also incorrect. Fortunately there are owners who have discovered these errors.

My only problem in doing this job many times.. the multi pin cable that plugs in.. be sure your battery is disconnected...one time on re-insertion
the PCB land on the bottom of the gauge panel was ruined (burnt) because I did not disconnect the battery. I had to put a piece of copper wire
between the burnt areas and soldering at this level is tricky.

Thanks Roger and Jose. I've been doing it one switch at a time and checking each as I go, but can't get the wipers to work.

I was wondering if I could get someone with a Series 1 to take a couple pics of the back of their instrument panel. I have a few unlabeled, "I'll remember where they go" wires that I'm not sure where they go.

Knob with semi circle is for Hella intermittent wiper switching

Black wire on left if for phone speaker

Here are some photos... not sure what area you really need great detail on.. let me know.
In the first photo, the Green Jag wiper wire is hooked to a black Hella wire, other black wire goes to original Jag spot on the switch.. added a wiring diagram for the wipers so
you know the colors of the wires at the switch.
