Best advice to refurbish/repaint aluminum covers from 86?

Some aluminum pitting and corrosion to deal with so how do I clean up the surface before paint..or powder coat?

Friend has a bead blaster so might start there.

blast them clean, sand where needed. paint them Satin black, then run a flat sander over the ribs, then run a flat polisher over the ribs. Then wash them with a soft sponge to remove polishing compound.

I need to do mine but I never get to it ! But I did the manifold shield if that counts!
