Default removing exterior window surround trim and refitting

I have a S1 parts car with excellent quality shiny trim around the door windows and on the drip rails. I would also like to remove the shiny trim on my good S1 for when I repaint it but my only experience so far pulling trim off another car wasn't good - it tended to bend and distort. Is there a good way to remove the trim and replace it without damaging it? Any particular tools or techniques?

Use plastic tools and a lot of care. If you put the pieces back on the same car it should be easier. Putting stainless window trim on a different car takes a lot of bending by hands and trial and error.

When I bought my S1 there was no front window trim...found some new pieces and it took many hours of fitting and forming for it to fit. Local window shop put in the new glass but would not attempt the trim after the initial attempt. Could not charge enough money for the needed time toake it fit.

Thanks - I used these plastic tools last time, still bent the trim...
