Replacing steering rack on Series 1
Looking to purchase replacement steering rack for my Series 1. I see refurbished units for $325. Any recommendations for replacements/vendors?
My current rack was supposedly rebuilt before I purchased the car in Feb. 2017, but it started leaking shortly after I got it. Any procedure to flush out the system before installing new one?
What type fluid are you using?
Regards,

Shtekler,
Thanks for the response. According to Haynes manual they originally used ATF in the power steering for my model year 1973. I was planning on using the same, absent someone giving any reason not to.
I had my rack rebuilt locally for about the same price as getting a re-built unit from California.
The post you referred me to makes sense to me about high pressure from the pump causing seal failure.
My car was lumped with a '70's 350 sbc utilizing the Chevy power steering pump.
I wasn't planning on measuring the pump output pressure but I 'know of any other way of being sure it's compatible with my Jag rack.
So can anyone tell me if the Chevy pump pressure setting may be the problem or any other opinions out there?
