RE: right tank changeover valve
Gorgon, you have a fuel change over valve, but not a seperate, right change over valve. The valve diverts the fuel from the left tank to the right tank, or visa-versa. I've never heard of one making a humming noise. Are you sure its not the fuel pump? Just in case it is the valve, its very easy to change. Has three fuel hoses on it. One from each tank, and then one to the fuel pump. Simply disconnect the fuel hoses and re-apply to a new valve. If, by some chance its the fuel pump, which will hum when its operating, check to see if it somehow might be against the metal in the trunk floor, or something against it, transferring the sound. Good luck. Keith

another way to test the fuel pump and to see if you can reproduce the hum, is to place the shifter in 1, (1st gear), then turn the ignition switch to crank the engine, the engine will not start but you will hear the pump priming. Compare the noise and see.
